Intel recently released some details about its upcoming special chip. the chip called larrabee has multiple cores and is supposed to be a graphical processing unit or GPU. Not that the current market leaders are Nvidia and ATI from AMD. Intel's entry into this market is viewed with enthusiasm by customers and causiousness by competitors. Intel plans to have engineering samples of Larrabee ready by the end of 2008, with public release in late 2009 or 2010. Some details have been recently released and they contain a lot of information. Analysts expect the chip to contain anywhere between 8 to 48 cores.
